Acrylic Atmoshperes 2
The Acrylic Atmospheres project grew from the Covid-19 Pandemic, this unseen, airborne, silent killer that swept across the globe. Inspiration for the project came from several places. Seeing images of acrylic paints underwater, graffiti, tattoos, and exploring colors mixed with organic and inorganic objects. The main inspiration stemmed from this disease that people were dying from at a pace most of us on earth had never witnessed. People were scared to go out, not knowing if the person next to them is contagious. It felt like the world had been choked out by this invisible disease most people on earth have never heard of before. I wanted to depict with bright colored paint and geometric organic/ inorganic objects what the atmosphere seemed like surrounding us all. The ‘shelter in place’ orders offered time for experimentation and exploration into unfamiliar territories.
